The 70th OMEP World Assembly and Conference in Prague, Czech

Dr. Maggie Koong, Immediate Past World President of OMEP and President of OMEP-HK,was in Prague, Czech to attend the 70th OMEP World Assembly and Conference between 25 and 29 June. The event was attended by early childhood researchers, practitioners, policymakers, advocates, teacher trainers and students coming from all over the world.
 
During the Word Assembly, Dr. Koong chaired a “Play and Resilience” session to discuss the challenges and protective factors to support childhood resilience through play with representative from different countries and regions. Attendants also shared intervention actions in their countries for building resilience.





On June 28th, Dr. Koong and our school's English teacher Pamela Chan gave a presentation titled “The Dynamic of Education in a World City: Multilingual and Multicultural Learning Environments”. This presentation discussed the dynamics of a multilingual classroom and the immersion of inquiry-based and literacy learning.





In the same day, Dr. Koong attended the Asian Pacific Regional Symposium and introduced the current conditions for under threes towards sustainable future in Hong Kong. She pointed out the number of child care service places for the under threes is still limited, and the urgent need to ensure the quality of playgroups operated by private organizations in Hong Kong.
 
On June 29th, Dr. Koong conducted a symposium to share the progress and research findings of the China-Africa Collaboration Play and Resilience Project. The project was launched in 2016 and Dr. Koong is the Global Project Director. The presentations were very well-received.





During this trip, Dr. Koong also visited the MŠ Čakovice in Prague.
