K1 Learning Journey “How the World Works”

24 Jan 2025

On Wednesday, January 22nd, the K1 classes held their Learning Journey for the “How the World Works” unit of inquiry.

In this unit, students
engaged in an exploration of the Earth and its natural cycles, including the concepts of day and night, weather, and seasons. They looked at the differences between the seasons and weather, and how it impacts us in Hong Kong. They examined how these cycles can influence our  daily choices when it comes to clothing, food and routines. In the process of this exploration, teachers also made connections to the 24 solar terms as a way to enhance the children’s understanding of Chinese culture. Through stories, artwork, songs, games, and experiments, the children were able to gain an understanding of the relationship between the Earth’s cycles and their daily lives from hands-on and engaging learning experiences. Parents really enjoyed being led around the classroom by their child and seeing all of the wonderful things they had accomplished during the unit. Parents also had the opportunity to watch their child in a video to see how they learn and practice Mandarin at school.

A big thank you to the K1
teachers for all their hard work!
