Meet with Kath Murdoch - Teachers joined the IB PYP Early Years Symposium
17 Oct 2025
We have had a busy week of professional development and sharing with our teachers and other educators across Asia. First, a group of CB teachers was thrilled to attend a session at VSA with Kath Murdock entitled “The Art of Inquiry”. Kath, who has authored 17 books and is synonymous with inquiry learning, is a highly regarded educator working with teachers worldwide, inspiring them to develop their methodologies around inquiry learning and teaching. Her inspiring talk left teachers thinking about what they could do to make children’s brains “sparkle with curiosity”!
The weekend was filled with learning and sharing, as our CB teaching staff and educators from across Asia gathered to participate in the 2nd IB PYP Early Years Education Symposium. Over the two days, teachers had the opportunity to hear inspiring talks from keynote speakers Kath Murdoch and Professor Peng Zhengmei, participate in a Poster Exhibition, a Curriculum Exhibition, and attend multiple forum presentations.
Our very own Miss Tabby, Ms. Chong, Ms. Lyu, and Ms. Jan were among the presenters at the symposium, representing the good practices our school could share with fellow educators regarding teaching and learning in the PYP.
Our K3 students participated in the Opening Ceremony of the symposium and performed a wonderful drum and dragon dance. The symposium participants were very impressed by the children’s abilities, making it an exciting start to the day's events.
On Saturday afternoon, our campus also welcomed over 100 educators who explored our classrooms and learned more about our school and curriculum. Their overwhelming appreciation for the work of our children was a testament to our school's commitment to quality education.
Teachers are Learners Too!
