April Special Activity Day “Recycling”

The PTA organized a Special Activity Day for the students and introduced the 24 solar terms of the traditional chinese calendar. The children learned about sorting the availability of fruit and in each of the four seasons. The students discovered the importance and meaning of “3Rs” (recycling, reuse and reduce). Over 50 parent volunteers took part in the event to teach and promote recycling to the children.
The students learned to identify and categorise recyclable materials, to reuse old paper to create new planting seed paper, and tips to reduce unnecessary waste at home and in school.
The children were able to demonstrate the need to be environmentally friendly and the benefits associated with taking care of our environment and the long term impact to mother earth.
With this new knowledge the children were able to relate to the topic of recycling and to want to develop this good habit. This is an essential life skill and one that can start from a very young age!
