Second Annual General Meeting for CBVKIN PTA and Seminar on “The Practice and Effectiveness of Mindfulness”

The 30th October 2018 saw the Second Annual General Meeting take place for the Causeway Bay Victoria Kindergarten and International Nursery Parent Teacher Association. We were honoured to have special guest speaker Professor Lam Shui-fong from the University of Hong Kong present a seminar on “The Practice and Effectiveness of Mindfulness”.
We were delighted to see so many of our parent members and special guests come along to support the PTA and the formalities of the meeting commenced without a hitch. As the meeting progressed, we moved through the discussion of the annual report and financial statements as well as passing several important motions to ensure the smooth running of the PTA moving forward. Very soon we were ready to announce the election results for the Second Executive Committee for the Year 2018-2019. With the confirmation of the Second Executive Committee, Principal Sabrina Lee along with Chairperson Mrs Chiane Chung thanked our outgoing Executive Committee for their dedication and hard work in the past year.
With the formalities of the evening completed, Professor Lam proceeded to guide us through an interesting journey in understanding mindfulness. She put us through excercises to really help us feel what it meant to be mindful and then show us real life examples of the effectiveness of mindfulness in practice. By the end of the seminar parents and teachers alike were all more “open minded” to the practice of mindfulness and surely will take what has been learnt home with us!
