2019 Visit to Po Leung Kuk

Our annual visit to Po Leung Kuk (PLK), one of the biggest PTA events of the year, was held on 30th November 2019. It was my pleasure to be one of the representatives from CBVK to work with our counterparts at VEO, the co-host of the event. Thanks to the unrelenting support from parents of all campuses, we had a record turnout of over 600 registered participants and helped raise over $180,000 for PLK in this event!
We started off with an opening ceremony where we not only presented a cheque & souvenir exchange but, our children from Victoria presented the children at PLK with gifts. Tours of the childcare facilities were given at designated times, while others enjoyed touring different areas of the venue where they could enjoy the nine carnival booth games. On top of having joy and fun, the planned tour and games were designed to introduce the services that PLK offers to the needy children in Hong Kong as well as to highlight its key values, like mutual respect, benevolence, and gratefulness.
In particular, we were especially touched to see our children donate a large number of toys and books, in addition to spending a great deal of time at our “Loving Thoughts Corner” to write caring messages to the children at PLK. These meaningful messages then became a part of the beautiful decoration on the two Christmas trees that we donated to PLK as well. Through the children's amicable gestures, we believe that all the participants were able to bring home the spirit of this long standing charity at the end of the day!
